Common Questions

FAQ

How old does my son need to be?
+
Boys can join Scouts BSA when they complete 5th grade OR turn 11, whichever comes first. The program runs through age 17.
Does he need to have been a Cub Scout?
+
Not at all. We welcome all boys who are brand new to Scouting!
How much time does it require?
+
We hold one meeting each week and one campout per month. However, attendance at campouts and meetings is encouraged but not enforced.
Can we visit before committing?
+
Absolutely β€” we encourage it. Prospective Scouts can attend meetings before deciding to join. Reach out using the form below and we'll get you set up.
What is Eagle Scout?
+
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouts BSA, earned by roughly 4% of all Scouts. It requires 21 merit badges, a leadership position, and a community service project. Most Scouts earn it in 3–5 years of active participation.
